If you haven't read my other post on the Honda CD70 you should read that first. Here is the link:
http://www.thesmallengineshop.net/smallengineforum/index.php?topic=3334.0Here's another Honda CD70 knockoff only this one is made in India and not China as far as I can tell. It's called Metro MR70. On the side of the gas tank it has the Metro logo, and beneath that near the back it says "Fly With Metro" in cursive writing. On the side panels it says "MR70" and under that it says "Capacitor Discharge Ignition System CDI." I don't know when this video was filmed, but CDI ignition came out in the early 70's in the United States.
Towards the end of this video they do a final check on a Metro MR70, and if you notice the black switch holder mounted to the left side handle bars and used to contain switches for electrical items is faded like it's been sitting in the sun for quite awhile. The horn sounds like it's half dead, but it seems to pass inspection without any changes.
I've seen several motorcycle brands in that part of the world that are almost identical to a Honda CD70. I think a reason for this other than copying a tried and true motorcycle with a proven history, is the availability of parts, service and support. I would imagine the parts and service for a Honda CD70 knockoff brand is identical to the Honda CD70, so this concern for the manufacturer is already taken care of when their knockoff brand hits the road.
