I've seen, in person, NYPD cop cars, NYPD SUV's, NYPD scooters, NYPD bicycles and NYPD mini cars and 3 wheel vehicles used for parking tickets. I've even seen NYPD officers on horses, but I have never seen NYPD motor cops on Harley Davidson motorcycles. Why aren't these motorcycles used more often for regular duty?
You can see cops on Harley Davidson motorcycles leading the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade this year, so at least somebody realizes cops on Harleys is a good look for New York city. It seems odd to me, but I think those in charge of NYPD have largely replaced motorcycles with scooters for regular tasks and duty. To me that's like replacing the horses in a cavalry with donkeys.
