Electric vehicle car manufacturers are removing the AM radio because the electric car motor(s) interfere with the AM signal by adding unwanted noise. A major problem with removing the AM radio,besides it being popular for talk radio, is the AM radio band is used or safety alerts in an emergency. I remember when there was talk coming from a German car manufacturer about removing the AM radio from their cars because buyers weren't listening to it. It never happened, but I guess it's happening with electric cars. Just another reason not to buy one.
