The end of the KLR650?

I read an article about new, stricter EPA regulations might force Kawasaki to either update the KLR650 or discontinue it. The problem is with larger displacement single cylinder engine's burning more oil and causing an increased hydrocarbon output. The problem is not only with the KLR650, but also the Honda XR650L and Suzuki DR650S.  Here is the article:
