USPS New Oshkosh EV Van In The News
« on: December 13, 2024, 05:57:12 PM »
Joe Biden used $3,000,000,000 from tax payer funds to buy 60,000 new USPS vehicles from Oshkosh, a company that usually manufactures vehicles for the military. Most of these vehicles will be electric powered trucks like the one shown in the photo. It's all a part of some "climate change, save the planet" program from Joe Biden administration. The purchase was made back in 2022, and USPS should have around 3,000 new Oshkosh vehicles by now, but only 93 have been delivered. Incoming president Donald Trump is now considering cancelling the order.

Some problems Oshkosh has encountered delaying production of these new EV's is calibrating the air bags, and leaks found in vehicle body parts and internal components. Out of frustration, one employee involved in production said "This is the bottom line: We don't know how to make a damn truck."

The government should have purchased tried and true designs with technology known to be cheap and reliable from companies known for building trucks and vans.

What will service and support be like for these new USPS Oshkosh EV's? Can you imagine what Oshkosh will charge when that enormous front window on their new EV van breaks, or when the main battery stops working? And how will these vehicles hold up in later years with high mileage, or in extreme weather conditions? I'm sure they've done testing, but how reliable is it?
