Eight Legged Freaks vs. 2001 Kawasaki KX125 & 250

When a giant spider looks at you.

What happens when you expose toxic sludge to common everyday spiders? They grow super big and aggressive and start chasing Kawasaki KX 125 and 250cc motorcycles. That's what happens in the movie Eight Legged Freaks starring David Arquette. The film was released in movie theaters across the country on July 17, 2002. No worries if you haven't seen the movie because it's still available on DVD or can be streamed on TubiTV.com for free.

The main protagonist in the chase scene is Brett, played by Matt Czuchry. He rides a 2001 Kawasaki KX125 through the desert while being chased by giant spiders. His KX125 is sporting an aftermarket headlight even though it wasn't a stock part for the KX125. His riding buddy's are all on 2001 KX 250 models. As with most Hollywood movies nothing is as it seems and the desert chase scene ends with Brett crashing his motorcycle inside a darkened mine shaft. When Brett picks up the motorcycle the camera focuses on the swingarm decal that says "KX 250." The audience is led to believe Brett was riding a Kawasaki KX 250 all along and not a 125 model. I have no idea why the movie creators switched the motorcycles for that particular scene, but maybe the KX125 was damaged during filming.

The 2001 Kawasaki KX models are designed for motocross use and are powered by a high performance 2 stroke engine. The 2001 KX model were available in 60, 65, 85, 100, 125, 250 and 500 cubic centimeter engine size. KX models are designed for competition use only, and Kawasaki has won many motocross championships over the years with this line of motorcycles.

Here you can clearly see the motorcycle ridden by Brett is a KX125 and not a 250 model

When Brett picks up his motorcycle after the mine shaft crash shown in the previous photo the camera focuses on the swingarm, and the decal says KX250. They used a different motorcycle for this shot for some reason.
